American Apparel & Footwear Association logoOwned and operated by the American Apparel & Footwear Association (AAFA), the American Image Awards began in 1977 to honor those who have exemplified leadership, excellence, and outstanding achievement in all sectors of the apparel and footwear industry, including design, manufacturing, and retail. Through this event, AAFA brings together a unique cross-section of influencers to celebrate creativity while drawing attention to public policy impacts on fashion and design.

The 2020 event will be hosted virtually, September 23 at 4:00 PM ET, as a spectacular celebration of our industry’s finest leaders and incredible resiliency. The esteemed honorees – Kenneth Cole, Ralph Lauren, Bravo’s Project Runway, Brandon Maxwell, and Alibaba (access bios and conversations) – will join virtually to accept their awards, provide insights to propel the industry forward, and will offer exclusive VIP discussions with Virtual Table leaders. Your commitment as a ticket and/or virtual table holder enables AAFA and the CFDA Foundation to celebrate fashion’s future by significantly contributing to its rebuilding. Take part.

Take a look back

A 2-minute lookback to the 2020 virtual American Image Awards:

Over the years, AAFA's American Image Awards has adjusted to the time and tone of American fashion.

In 2015, AAFA invited word-renowned artist Ruben Toledo to create a new award statuette. Toledo’s creation, featuring six different metal finishes, showcases AAFA’s global mission and represents all facets of the industry.
